Two years in the making is a long time, so I’d like to take a moment to talk about the new RecoverySuperstore.com and thank everyone for their support.
First and foremost, I cannot put into words my deep gratitude for our customers and institutional clients, as well as those in recovery that have been my shoulder to lean on throughout the last two years of this process. At times, it has seemed impossible, but you have always been there to listen and offer your experience, strength, and hope. The other owners of RecoverySuperstore feel the same way. You know who you are, and this could not have been done without you - truly.
Second, I would like to personally thank my brother, Anthony. From developing the original incarnation of RecoverySuperstore.com to driving to Saint Louis to meet with me and write the business plan, his dedication to the vision and success of this effort has been inspirational to say the least. Hours, weeks, and months of his time have gone into making this improved web site possible. Without him, none of this would have happened. He is the programming expert, shipping manager, IT guy, and a host of other critical functions. Thank you. I love you and have the utmost respect for you and your recovery.
A little about the history of RecoverySuperstore.com:
RecoverySuperstore.com was originally launched in March 2005 by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence of Northeast Mississippi (NCADD). The vision was to mend a fragmented industry. By providing its customers with a high-quality online shopping experience, fast service, and a more complete line of recovery related products, the company’s founders sought to bring greater reliability, professionalism, and variety to a marketplace largely populated by small stores limited to a few specialized products.
My brother, Anthony was the driving force behind the creation of the online store, essentially building it from scratch on his own. After a year of growing popularity, NCADD decided to either scale the store back or sell it. At that point that my brother and I decided we had a vision for RecoverySuperstore that went well beyond a recovery store. We developed a business plan for the store and began looking for investors. This took 18 months. We were ready to give up and call it quits. In July of 2007, Anthony mentioned our efforts in a passing conversation to another acquaintance in recovery. She was very interested, and within weeks secured the funds needed to purchase RecoverySuperstore.com and begin realizing our dream.
Since that point, our entire team (made up of recovering individuals from various fellowships) have been working non-stop to develop a web site that will serve as the foundation for all great things to come. RecoverySuperstore has been the largest carrier of recovery book titles for quite some time. But, our vision is to become much more than that- to create a high-quality community for recovering people. Today’s launch of our new, improved web site is the first step in this process, but definitely not the last.
