Slowing Down

I keep a quote from the Just For Today taped on my desk. It’s one of my favorite snippets from the entire book. It reads:

There is no point in living a frantic existence. Charging through life like the house is on fire exhausts us and gets us nowhere.

I have to constantly remind myself of this. As I move further along in recovery, I seem to get seek out more and more responsibility. If I’m not careful, I can use it as an excuse to open the door to unmanageability in my life. Before I know it, I’m surrounded by chaos and have neglected to nurture my program.

Just for today, I’m going to realize that there will always be more work to be done. I don’t have to complete it all today.
