The spiritual principles of NA are at the heart of our reacovery from the disease of addiciton. The steps are "the principles that made our reacovery possible," but we do not work the NA program in isolation. Sponsorship is the key to working the steps--to understanding spiritual principles and practicing them in all our affairs.

This book is focused on sponsorship in NA--its rewards and challenges, and its place in our day-to-day recovery. When world services asked the fellowship in 2000 what they would like to see in a book on sponsorship, the response was overwhelming. Thousands of pages of experience, opinion, and ideas poured in, and it became clear right away that sponsorship varies from country to country, region to region, and individual to individual. The book that resulted reflects this rich diversity. It attempts to present a snapshot of how our ever changing fellowship practices sponsorship today.
